Over the years he has attended an intensive series of courses, including the London School of Printing and Graphic Arts and Ashridge Management College.
For two years in 1960 he was seconded to the then Supermarket Association, where he was Executive-in-Charge of self-service development throughout the United Kingdom.
He was made an Associate member of the Institute of Marketing and Sales Management in 1961, an Associate member of the Advertising Managers Association in 1964 and was elected a Member of the Institute of Marketing in 1969.
As Chairman for eight years of one of the country's leading speciality food and drink marketing groups, he was asked by senior executives from other independent county groups to set up and chair a National Committee on the future of all the speciality food and drink groups in England and present a consultative report to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Agriculture and Food Minister,ADAS other interested Government and Food From Britain.
He is currently
Life Vice-President of the British Herb Trade Association and a founder
member of the
National Association of British Speciality Foods, which is supported by
MAFF and Food
From Britain. He was appointed MBE in 1997 for services
to the Speciality
Food Industry.
